Review 1:
This little machine is a time saver. It preheats quickly and only takes 4-5 minutes to cook the sandwich. It’s super easy to use and leaves little to no mess after it’s done. You plug it in, let it preheat, and when the green light turns on, that means it’s preheated. You add the bottom of the English muffin, place your cheese/meats/veggies on top, you pull down the top cylinder, slide in the egg tray, add the egg and then place the top half of the english muffin on top of the egg, close it and set the timer on the device and it beeps when the timer hits zero to let you know it’s finished. Then you unplug it to stop it from heating (it does not automatically turn off when the timer hits zero), then you slide out the egg tray and lift the two cylinders up, and viola! You now have a perfectly cooked breakfast sandwich! In case y:uIfrious, you need to add precooked meats to it, not raw meats. Bacon, ham, and sausage all have precooked variants at the grocery store, which will expedite the cooking process for you because you don’t need to preheat them or cook the meat before cooking,, saving time and reducing the cleanup afterwards. Egg leakage was minimal, and I am confident that the little that came out was from me feeling the need to adjust the tray while it was cooking.
The only leakage I noticed was from using oil spray on it. The oil dripped when I lifted the top cylinder. It said to use the oil lightly if you did choose to use it, I didn’t use it lightly, so that’s more of a me issue. It’s the perfect size machine, not too big and lighter than expected, so it’s easy to store away, etc. The instruction manual is self-explanatory, super easy to understand, and gives you some troubleshooting advice in case you mess up somehow, and it doesn’t turn out how you anticipated. The only way I could see it not properly cooking the food is if you didn’t let the machine preheat or set a timer. And again. It’s super easy to clean, the metal cylinders are also dishwasher safe. I recommend this product to those who want a quick, hot breakfast with very little cleanup. And two recommended sauces, Cajun mayo or salsa, go great with the egg sandwich, and the best cheese to use with this is finely shredded mild cheddar! That’s my opinion, though. Some people said it smells… That’sThat’s probably because they didn’t clean it before the first use. I cleaned mine before using it, and I don’t smell anything. It functions well for what it is. And side note, if you have marble counters like I do, you should skip the spray oil or make sure it’s a minimal amount, because oil will destroy marble counters if you don’t clean it instantly. The device is all nonstick material,, so you don’t need to use a nonstick spray. Hope this helps!!! 🙂

**Review update on 10/6/24, I’ve been using this daily. Still no leaks or issues, and I’ve experimented with different English muffin, different meats, and itit’s made the sandwich perfectly each time. I recommend toasting the English muffins first before putting them in this machine. But it will make it regardless, it’s just a matter of preference on how toasted you want the muffin. ***

Review 2:
Hamilton Beach is one of those brands with many question marks, at least for me. I decided to write this review because this sandwich maker outperforms my overall expectations. The attached videos are informative and accurate. I have used this to make about twenty breakfast sandwiches thus far, and the only time things didn’t work out was due to my errors. The total time from initial preheat (3 minutes) to tasty breakfast is 8-12 minutes, depending on your ingredients and tolerance for heated food. The egg can spill over some, but the cleaning has been minimal. I have not had a sticking issue, but I use a spray to ensure. I find a pair of silicone-coated tongs work well to remove my sandwiches rather than a spatula. If you put meat in, the level may tilt, and the egg may not spread evenly. It will cook, but may leak through to the bottom. Again, not difficult to clean up. I have not used bacon, oooh, bacon!?! But I would not be surprised to see a greasy mess. I would probably use leftover bacon rather than fresh bacon. On that note, you MUST use cooked meats in this appliance. Most bacon is cured, but it will release a lot of grease.
If I were to improve, it would include an auto shut-off. You need to be attentive to prevent an issue, but since I am usually hungry as a bear in the morning, I am drooling as I wait to hear that beep-beep saying it’s breakfast time!!
This inexpensive alternative to a drive-thru will require as much time out of your day as waiting in line. Plus, you can make your coffee, or whatever you do, while you wait. Unlike sitting in your car listening to traffic reports. LOL.
The bottom line is that if you are here, you want a way to make a leisurely breakfast. This is it, if you want an egg-based sandwich. Dead short technology has been around way too long for issues related to electrical reliability. I believe user care and the design that eliminates the potential to contaminate the circuitry from regular use is far more important than brand name on such a basic appliance. I wrote this review because I would repurchase it for the same price, even if it fails within a few years. Why? Because it would most likely be my fault if it failed. For the small cost compared to the drive-thru alternative, my break-even is less than 10 trips to the clown show.

Review 3:
I am an experienced cook, and sometimes my husband and I enjoy having breakfast sandwiches for dinner with tater tots. Before getting this sandwich maker, the process of making these sandwiches included cooking sausage patties or whatever meat was used, cooking the eggs (often with diced onions and green peppers added to the eggs), having cheese slices ready, and toasting the English muffins. Then the sandwiches had to be assembled before everything got cold. This process wasn’t a big deal, but when I discovered this breakfast sandwich maker, I had to try it. It was worth the cost if it made the process easier and faster.

Still, I was skeptical since there are so many appliances available to accomplish specific tasks without having to store another appliance. I tried this sandwich maker for the first time tonight, and I have to say I was impressed with the results. However, I have ideas for improvements that I will explain later.

Tonight, I made two sets of sandwiches. For the first set, I precooked breakfast sausage patties, did not toast the English muffins, or butter them. I diced onions, green peppers, and tomatoes that were added on top of the egg for cooking, and used Monterey/Jack cheese. So, after preheating, put the muffins in the bottom, cheese on top, and then the sausage patty. Closed the level for the egg, added the egg, diced onion, green pepper, and diced tomato, and then topped with the English muffin. I toasted the English muffin on a bagel setting for the second set and buttered both halves. I put the cheese on the bottom of the toasted buttered muffin, and diced ham on top of the cheese instead of a sausage patty. I cooked both sets for 5.5 minutes and allowed the cooker to preheat after the first set.

Both sets of sandwiches were good, but what I found was:
1) Toasting and buttering the English muffin really didn’t make much of a difference, other than the outer side of the muffin being browner and the cheese being a bit fried.
2) The egg on both sandwiches was negligible. It was absorbed by the upper muffin.

I challenge appliances to the limit and have ideas I will try next time. Although the instructions say to limit the egg size to 1 medium to large egg. I used an x-large egg for all sandwiches and still had plenty of room after adding the diced onion, bell pepper, and tomato. I plan to use two eggs since there was no problem adding the chopped veggies. A visible layer of egg may be better with more eggs. In addition, I will let the egg set before putting the top muffin on top. Putting the muffin on top of the raw egg absorbed part of the egg, hence no noticeable layer of egg. Next time, I won’t bother toasting the muffins since they were toasted fine in the cooker, and buttering the muffins only added more fat and no benefit.

In conclusion, this cooker is well worth the price as it saves time making breakfast sandwiches and does a good job. This is one of the appliances that does not have to be limited to the intended use. The breads you use and the ingredients in the sandwiches are left to your imagination. I am still experimenting and will update this review when I find more uses and better ways to use this appliance or if my opinion changes.

I hope this review is helpful for you.

  • Use Precooked Meats: Save time by using precooked bacon, sausage, or ham.
  • Experiment with Ingredients: Try different breads, cheeses, and veggies to create unique sandwiches.
  • Clean Immediately: Wipe down the cooking surfaces after each use to prevent sticking.
